London Marathon 2017

London Marathon 2017

Thank you for your support!

This year’s London Marathon marked the 5th annual fundraising event hosted by Rubicon, with our ambitious goal of raising £5,000 our highest ever!

We partnered with Barts Charity for the day with 100% of the money going toward world leading medical research.

With our target in mind, we knew that this year had to involve a tonne of hard work and fun to make sure that those generous enough to dig into their pockets got their monies worth.

Luckily for us, the Rubicon family is full of exceptional characters who all gave up their Sunday to help out, creating a cheering spirit in front of The Office just past the halfway point of the run.

As well as the Limehouse locals, we hosted family members of runners who were representing the Barts Charity team. We all gathered for the final preparations first thing in the morning, but there was somebody missing…

Our very own Danny was running the marathon! representing both Rubicon and Barts Charity he racked up a grand total of £896 on his Just Giving page! (And it is still not too late to donate)

In addition to Danny’s own contribution, we had a few creative ideas on how to please the locals as well as the charity…

The bar was run professionally by Matt, a recent addition to Rubicon’s growing family as our Sales Negotiator And Lucy, arguably E14’s finest Letting’s negotiator. They were joined by Sam, our new intern who has quickly become an integral part of the team.

They spent their day taking donations in exchange for generous amounts of Pimms, beer, prosecco and wine, which proved to be a great success amongst the crowd (even the officers on duty were tempted!)

With brass horn band playing right next to the office, a combination of
free-flowing drinks, food and cheering crowd created an electric atmosphere.

In addition to the very popular outdoor bar and music, the lovely ladies of the office, Hollie, Laura and Samantha did glitter face-painting and served coffee, snacks and hot food inside.

The remaining members of the team helped to replace the seemingly endless supply of water and sweets to the exhausted runners outside!

Marathon day is definitely one of Rubicon’s favourite days of the year. Not only does it allow us to do something great and raise money for an inspiring cause, but we get to do it in such a way that involves the entire community around us.

Rubicon’s culture is very much orientated around the community, so anytime we have the chance to take part in an event, such as the this, there’s no thinking twice.
The marathon is especially great because we’re lucky enough to be located in the heart of Limehouse, on Narrow Street, having the course run just past us!

It would be best to stop now and take a moment to consider the help and hard work that everyone put in to make the London Marathon a success.

Firstly, huge congratulations must be given to Danny, who had prepared for the most part of the year, and all his great training paid off on the day, with a final finish time of 4 hours and 3 minutes.

Secondly, a huge thank you to all of you who came down and joined us for the day. We are ever so grateful for your support and we know that Barts Charity cannot thank you enough for the difference you made for them.

Overall the day proved to be a huge success!
In the end, we were so happy to have spent such a good day with the Limehouse community.
We are already looking forward to 2018 London Marathon day and thinking of ways we can take the event to the next level and have even more fun.

We loved it this year and can’t wait to see you all again next year!

If you were at the office or along any of the marathon route we would love to hear from you!
